Spring, Winter, Spring, Winter

Don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes. That's the saying here in Montana and today I actually believe it. It was snowing like crazy when we left for work this morning. When we got home, the snow was gone and the sun was shining. Last Wednesday, I wore shorts and a t-shirt to walk the dogs in beautiful 70 degree weather. The next day, it snowed.
Friday is my last day at West Yellowstone, but I've been invited to help out during the summer if I'd like. There were several bear sightings in the park while I was there. I went on a bear hunt twice and had no luck! Hope you guys aren't tired of buffalo and elk because that's all I saw.
Chris helped out some friends branding and birthing cows last Saturday. We were both going to help out Sunday, but they had to cancel because of the weather :( Maybe next time. (WARNING: One of the birthing pics is pretty graphic)

Spring Is Here. . .For Now Anyway

This weekend I wore short sleeves and it was GREAT!! The sun was shining, the sky was blue, and it was in the upper 50s. . .whooooohoooo!!! Maggie did a little gopher hunting yesterday since we have so many in our yard. She had one trapped under some boards so Chris and I decided to give her a little help. When we lifted the board, the gopher came running out towards Chris. He squealed (like a girl) something about a badger and an electric eel(it makes no sense, I know)and dropped the board. Maggie actually caught the gopher by its tail end. She let it go and it survived another day, unfortunately. One of these days I'm going to break an ankle in a stupid gopher hole!
For those of you that have never seen one, this is a gopher (to the left of the huge pile of poop).

I was on the left, Chris on the right.

Digging for gophers.

Did I mention our grass is turning green? Yay!

Our new bird feeder. It has been a very busy place!

Back to Blogging

To sum up what's been going on with us for the last month, Chris' family flew out to visit us, my brother got married, my parents got 2 foster children, I started working at the West Yellowstone clinic, and, at the moment, Chris is suffering through his 3rd day of call. Only 2 more to go. It's been a busy month, but fun!

On my way home from West Yellowstone

This picture really doesn't show just how many elk are in this field. Hundreds and hundreds.

More elk on the way to West Yellowstone.

Buffalo crossing on my way to work.

They were so close to the truck!

If anyone wants to see pictures of my new foster siblings, just e-mail me.
